Departure from Tbilisi
Ujarma fortress is located north from village Ujarma of Telavi municipality, near Tbilisi-Telavi road. The first fortress at this place was built in the 4th century. In the 5th century Vakhtang Gorgasali built a new castle and a church at Ujarma and made it one of his residentions. After been wounded in a battle, Vakhtang Gorgasali passed away in Ujarma fortress. Nowadays only ruins of the castle remain.
Ikalto Monastery is located 10 kilometers north from Telavi. The monastery was founded by Assyrian holly father Zenon in the 6th century. Arsen Ikaltoeli founded an academy in Ikalto Monastery. The monastery complex includes a church and ruins of academy building, also there are some old pitchers.
Alaverdi cathedral is situated on Alazani valley, near village Alaverdi, in municipality of Akhmeta, 20 kilometers away from Telavi. The monastery was founded by Assyrian holly father Joseph in the 6th century. Alaverdi monastery used to be one of the biggest cultural-educational centers in Georgia.
Gremi church is located in village Gremi of Kvareli municipality. A temple of Archangels was built by Levan – a king of Kakheti. Painting of the walls was finished in 1577. There used to be a wine cellar and a bath on the territory of the monastery.
Twins Wine House is located in village Napareuli of Telavi municipality. Twins Wine House includes a cellar, a museum, vineyard and a hotel. It is a perfect place for wine degustation, expanding knowledge in wine making and just relaxing while surrounded by vineyard and great nature.
At the Twins Wine House you will have excursion at the museum and degustation of 3 sorts of wine and Chacha, or 4 sorts of wine. Also for additional fee you can try baking traditional Georgian bread Shoti, making Churchkhela, making Khinkali and baking Khachapuri.
